a word about karma…

ok, maybe more than one word…

“Balance is the bane of my existence. It often appears within reach but ultimately becomes unattainable.”

far be it from me to correct any one… but this person is wrong… haha

acceptance of karma is to know the FACT that what you are doing right now IS being balanced out every minute.  whether you are doing things purposefully or carelessly – whatever actions you do or fail to do, the universe balances out with or without you, your acceptance of it, or even acknowledgement of it.  so your current circumstances (i woudl say including your current emotional state) is the balance of what you are currently doing – the cause and effect, if you will.  balance IS the existence and what you are constantly experiencing.  it is not something to be “attained” … it simply IS.

that, my friends, is the concept of KARMA.  so when we say “it is what it is” – there is no if, and, but, etc.  there only IS. like yoda, do or do not. there is no try.

the attempt by you of “achieving” balance is an incorrect and futile activity. balance IS already.  your actions and lack of actions force the universe’s hand to balance itself into the current framework. 

take as an example, a friend of mine thinks that if he could do some of the things that have been done to him to others, he would understand and be able to forgive.  that couldnt be any more destructive and damaging.

if you think that by taking an action of doing something to someone that which has been done unto you, (throwing in a little king james verbage for good measure) you are forcing the universe to create a positive action to your negative one.  so you know how things that you intend go heywire and backfire on you?  that’s the universe correcting whatever you are currently doing.  the current state you have found yourself in is in part due to the negative or positive actions done in the past – and for you to try to balance these things out for yourself is further creating a shift or some act of compensation.

another example… we tend to think of “balance” as a scale.  like the ones we used in high school physics or something. we have this kind of apparatus mentality and think we need to add weight on one side and shift things around.

instead, i think of it more like a jar.  the jar has a set volume.  it cannot be any more full or less full than the volume allows.  you can put several things in or just one thing.  the rest of the space will be occupied by air and microorganisms of various shapes and sizes and purposes.  but it WILL be filled whether you do it or not. now you can choose to fill it as much as possible with the things you want in there, or you can be lackadaisical about it and let “science” fill it up.  you do have some choice and control, though not 100%.  but the more effort you put in, the more you can control the “environment” of the jar.

now for those of you who are reading this and thinking, how can she believe in karma when she’s a Christian?  well, i’ll tell you.  karma is a word. (yes that’s a quote from the matrix) i use it to define a set principle. i believe that karma is God’s plan and purpose for our lives and that the jar is our lives.  Jesus is the Holder and Keeper of the JAR.  that sounds kinda wacky, i do realize it.  but i’ll just leave it at that for now.  you’re more than welcome to discuss it with me if you’d like
