Karma comes in small packages, from special people

In my VietNAM post I focused on some of the less-than-positive things happening on NAM. To be fair, however, there is still a lot of good in NAM and there are many great people who continue to contribute in the spirit of what NAM was meant to be. I already told you about DickDavid and the magnetic grill badge trading thread. Another group with a high level of camaraderie and that “pay it forward” attitude is the gang on the Toys and Diecast thread. Time and time again you’ll see people helping each other there, offering to make a trip to the local Wal Mart to find something for a fellow collector. It seems they share with each other for the joy of it (what a concept!). You’ll see Mishka, Agro, BobbieJ, DickDavid, Smokey, ChubbyChecker and many others there. But one person in particular, 91Eunos, continues to amaze me with his kindness.

91Eunos (his name is Rob) is stationed in Germany with the military and has been providing the diecast group with unique MINI collectibles for awhile now. Sometimes he trades with people and sometimes people pay him back. But often I think he sends special things to people just because he knows it will make them happy.

When I went to my first MOTD, Rob sent a package to Mishka with gifts for many of us. I received a 1:87 scale LY Cooper S Cabrio with tiny people inside and it remains as one of my favorite diecast models.

Once when looking at MINI models on the European Motoringgear site, I found a Kyosho 1:18 scale LY Cooper One with an aero kit. The model was about $90 U.S. and they wanted almost as much to ship it. I asked Rob to check the next time he was at the dealership there, to see if he could get it and ship it to me for less. He followed through (as always) and although I wanted the model, the shipped price was still pretty steep and I had some mods on the horizon. So I asked him to hold off. 

A month or so later I returned from a vacation trip to find a box from Rob. Inside was the LY Cooper One. He wanted nothing in return. It’s “Karma,” he said.

There it is again…pay it forward. Wow. I was floored. It’s my favorite model not only because it’s LY, a Cooper and really cool, but because of that for which it stands. Since then Rob has sent me many things and nearly every LY cabrio I have in my collection came from him.
