Collective Karma

Good begets good and evil spawns evil. Isn’t that it? isn’t that what essentially Karma is?

You know what, its a struggle at times between believing in a concept that is so simple and logical and fair and believing in reality which often seems to overlook the law on which it is supposed to balance itself. Its only understandable that not every action’s ‘equal and opposite’ reaction occurs right then and there, cos life wouldnt really be any fun like that now would it? We’d never be allowed to make mistakes, we could never really learn from those mistakes (oh but then again, we couldnt make any!), there’d never be anyone who was a better person than another, we’d be trapped in a world of ubiquitous righteousness…

But then again, at times it makes me wonder if instead of a delayed reaction to our actions, karma works more instantly, yet at the same time, working at a much larger scale than you or I could understand. What if there is something of a ‘collective’ karma of the world.

It’s quite a simple extension of the basic concept really. And it goes something like this… More often than not, every action of ours essentially plants a seed for our fruit to grow out of. And this seed may see fruition in the near future or might take its own sweet time. However, at every point in our life, it is essentially a scale of balances either crediting us our fortune or misfortune.

Yeah so well, so far it is exactly what karma talks about right? Well, here is what is different (unless even this part is included in karma, but i doubt it is).. for every person who commits a negative deed (just to steer clear of whats right and wrong, sin and good deeds… we shall stick to negative and positive), there is someone else in the world who is rewarded for some positive deed that he had done. This makes sure that the world still spins in the same direction and that day does break after a dark night.

So for every time when you feel like life couldn’t get any worse, have faith and believe in the balancing nature of life/god/the-unknown-forces, that will make sure that you are on top of the world one day…

… and yes, when you are on top of the world… brace for the fall!
