How do you hear about music? Do you listen to what the critics say? Do you wait and see what comes on BET and MTV? Maybe you just listen to what your friends say his hot? Try surfing the web a little and looking for indie artists. Check out the online music stores like cdbaby, blastmymusic.com, even scroll through MySpace and see what your fellow independent recording artists are doing. There are hundreds of places you can look.

Why? First for inspiration and motivation. It helps to see people in the same boat as you. It keeps you from feeling alone and discouraged. Second, you can get some ideas. Look at how they’re promoting, or not promoting. Learn from each others mistakes and network. Third, it is good karma to buy music from fellow independent artists.

Remember we reap what sew. When was the last time you bought music from an indie artists? When is the last time somebody purchased your music? Don’t expect people to buy yours if you’re not buying theirs. Karma baby, you reap what you sew.

Stay positive, change the way your think.
