Just curious what people think about Sharon Stone’s red carpet karma comment, after all the hoopla has subsided. Personally, it’s not something I would say out loud, never mind in front of a camera on a red carpet, but I don’t think the attacks are really necessary. One e-reporter said the comments were “absolutely shocking!” I agree they were stupid, but shocking? Not so much.

Tens of thousands of people certainly did not deserve to die by some karmic intervention intended to punish the government for cruel acts against Tibet – not by any stretch of the imagination.  But c’mon – I’m sure she wasn’t the only one thinking along those lines, even if just for a second.

Here’s a snapshot of what she said:

“I’m not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don’t think anyone should be unkind to anyone else. … And then this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and then I thought, is that karma? When you’re not nice that the bad things happen to you?”

If you haven’t seen the video clip of her making the infamous comments, you can watch it here. I think you have to hear her say it to form a true opinion.
